Newcastle Knights player Caitlin Moran has been suspended for one match, conditionally fined and ordered to undergo training following a social media controversy.
The NRL integrity unit handed down their ruling on Tuesday night, deeming the former Jillaroos representative had breached the NRLW code of conduct.
Moran, who is free to return for NRLW semi-finals the following weekend, was allowed to play in Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Roosters at Allianz Stadium while the investigation was taking place.
The post was made on Friday in relation to the Queen's recent death.
Her undisclosed fine is wholly suspended for 12 months with education and training also requested by the NRL integrity unit.
The Knights issued a statement on Tuesday night.
"The Newcastle Knights have today supported the National Rugby League integrity unit's move to issue player Caitlin Moran with a one game suspension and undisclosed fine, wholly suspended for a period of 12 months, in relation to a post she made on social media on Friday, September 9, 2022," the Knights said.
"Moran today met with National Rugby League chief executive officer Andrew Abdo to discuss the situation, after which the following actions were determined.
"Moran will not play in Sunday's round-five NRLW clash against the St George Illawarra Dragons at Central Coast Stadium.
"She will also be required to attend education and training as recommended by the NRL Wellbeing and Education department in consultation with the club and the Australian Rugby League Indigenous Council.
"In addition, the club has committed to undertake further educational programs for both NRLW and NRL squads.
"The club has and will continue to provide Moran with appropriate support and will be making no further comment on the matter."
