JAIPUR: A report recommended action against 58 rural development department officers of eight districts as inspection of MGNREGA work was carried out by the department in all the districts.
Following the inspection of 322 activities in 33 districts under the rural development and panchayati raj department, 34 were found to be unsatisfactory in eight districts while 288 were found satisfactory, according to the report.
The report recommended blacklisting of four mates and issuance of chargesheet (as per 17 CCA)/ action as per contractual terms and conditions against 54 officers. These included 30 development officers, village development officers, village employment assistants and junior assistants; and 24 junior engineers, junior technical assistants. Of the four mates blacklisted, one was from Ajmer district, one from Sawai Madhopur and two from Dholpur district.
The action was recommended against officers of Ajmer, Baran, Barmer, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur and Udaipur districts.
According to the report, district programme coordinators, employment guarantee scheme and district collectors of these districts have been advised to take action against these officers as per norms.
"As per the recommendations of the inspection report, orders have been issued to the districts to take action. After issuing chargesheet to these officers, they will be given a chance to give their replies," said a senior officer at the rural development department.
Rural development and panchayati raj minister Ramesh Chand Meena on Wednesday during the review of rural schemes in Sawai Madhopur directed the officials to get the opening of tenders in 19 works under the Rajiv Gandhi Jal Sanchay Yojna investigated by a team of officers from the headquarter.
He said it seemed 'suspicious' as the tenders in these works were opened at 13 to 62% less than the base rate. He told reporters that the state government has a 'zero tolerance' policy in the matter of corruption.
