LUCKNOW: Earlier in the month of March, an emergency request was raised to senior divisional material manager (Sr DMM) of NR Lucknow division by railway hospital (Cariappa road based), for vials of Koate DVI 500 IU injection for a 10-year-old boy suffering from a ultra-rare platelet deficiency called Congenital thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (CTTP) which happens to one in a million.
Since the injection was not available in retail due to its expensive cost, the father of the teenage boy currently posted in Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management (IRITM) turned towards railways for help.
