PARIS: Gagan Narang was a top shooter in his prime and his moment of glory came in the London Games when he won a bronze. A few things have changed since then, Narang is now the chef de mission of the Indian contingent in Paris that is looking for one of its biggest Olympic hauls.
Narang feels it is the change in mindset of the athletes that has helped them compete for medals instead of being happy with the participant tag. "I started competing from 2004 at Athens. And after four Olympics, I can see that there is a huge change in our athletes' thinking and motivation. We used to go and compete with a bit of fear. We competed with the thought that athletes from other countries are better than us," Narang told reporters after visiting the MPC.
