A new study has uncovered the most sought-after professions across Newcastle, based on Google search data.
According to BizCover who conducted the research, the most searched job in Newcastle was "Real Estate Agent," with 440 average monthly searches.
Following closely behind were the three Ps - paramedic, psychologist and psychiatrist - which took out the second, third, and fourth most searched jobs.
The research analysed Google searches made between August 2023 and July 2024 for over 700 job roles combined with the phrase "how to become a [job role]".
Flight attendants took out fifth place, and with Newcastle Airport's international terminal opening next year, and new routes expected to be announced soon, they might be in luck.
Nationally, real estate agents were also at the top of the "how to become" career search list.
It was followed by Justice of the Peace (not a career and you don't get paid, but OK), psychologist, pilot, paramedic, psychiatrist, mortgage broker, flight Attendant, police officer and firefighter.
HMRI new leadership appointments
The Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) has announced two major leadership appointments, with Brian Jones joining as chief operating officer and Todd Williams stepping into the role of chief growth officer.
Mr Jones joins the team following his previous role as the executive director of change and improvement at the University of Newcastle, where he was instrumental in several projects worth over $1 billion, including the development of the NU Space building.
HMRI chief executive Professor Frances Kay-Lambkin said he was thrilled to "to have someone of Brian's calibre join our team".
"His expertise in leading large-scale organisational transformations and his strategic leadership make him the ideal fit for our corporate services team," Prof Kay-Lambkin said.
Mr Williams' appointment follows a successful tenure as HMRI's acting chief partnership and development officer.
"Todd has been instrumental in strengthening our relationships with investors, donors, and stakeholders," Prof Kay-Lambkin said.
"His ability to foster these connections, combined with his experience across corporate, government, and industry sectors, is essential to our continued growth.
"Todd's leadership has already delivered impressive results, and we're excited to see him drive the Institute's future growth. His expertise will be key to expanding HMRI's reach."
