LONDON: It wasn’t quite a rousing reception to begin with for Novak Djokovic, going for a staggering fifth consecutive Wimbledon crown. There were corners of support for the Serb, who hadn’t lost on Centre Court in 10-years, but the acoustics didn’t quite echo the virtuoso’s command of the stage.
Things changed audibly following the 70-minute rain break which came at the end of the first set. The roof rolled over the arena shortly after and Djokovic, who tapped out the moist areas of the court while talking to tournament referee Gerry Armstrong, brought out his towel to dry the courts.
