Notts County sign Will Randall after Sutton United release

Notts County have announced the signing of Will Randall on a two-year deal following his release from fellow League Two outfit Sutton United. The 26-year-old was a key player for Sutton in his four seasons at the club, helping them achieve promotion to the Football League for the first time back in 2021, and scored ten goals in 64 League Two appearances for the Us over the last two years.

The left winger started his career with Swindon before joining Wolves in 2016. While with Wolves he enjoyed loan spells with Walsall, Forest Green, and in Spain with FC Jumilla before making the move to Sutton. With the arrival of Randall, County have added a strong option in an area of the pitch that needed additions, and with that a player with recent experience of the league which is always important for a newly-promoted side.

The board of directors said in a statement: “Will is a player we tried to sign earlier this year, so we’re delighted to eventually bring him to Meadow Lane. He’s direct, an excellent set-piece taker, and a goal threat who is comfortable on both flanks, while also having the qualities to cover the number-eight role.

“Importantly, Will is also very disciplined out of possession and is a great character who we think will add a lot to the squad. He’s known to Luke Williams and Ryan Harley from their time together at Swindon, so we’re very confident he’ll be a brilliant addition.”

After retaining the core of their promotion squad, Luke Williams has begun to make the necessary additions to be able to compete at the next level with Randall the first of likely many new signings this summer.

Since clinching a place in League Two for next season via their dramatic National League play-off final win, County have made Jodi Jones' loan from Oxford United permanent and have handed new two-year contracts to goalkeeper Sam Slocombe and defender Connell Rawlinson.
