Notts County player ratings vs Aldershot: Vitezslav Jaros the standout in lackluster performance

Notts County were left still fighting to secure their place in the National League play-offs as their three-match winning run came to a nightmare end with a 3-1 defeat at lowly Aldershot.

Cal Roberts’ first-half penalty was all Notts had to cheer in a lacklustre performance which sees them remain in fifth place with three games of the season remaining.

Here is how the Notts players rated in the match.

Vitezslav Jaros : Returned to the side after making way for Sam Slocombe at Dover in midweek and made some fine saves to keep the score respectable. 6

Dion Kelly-Evans : Handed a rare starting berth but struggled to make an impact going forward and harshly sent off in added time after a second booking. 4

Connell Rawlinson : Substituted in the second half and indebted to his keeper after a sloppy backpass let Aldershot in. 4

Sam Graham : Like the rest of Notts’ defenders, at fault for the first goal and won’t be happy with the team’s numerous other defensive frailties. 5

Adam Chicksen : Caught out badly for the first goal and things didn’t get much better after that. 4

Matt Palmer : Plenty of effort but no end product and delivery from corners was poor. 5

Ed Francis : Forced to go into defence as Notts reshuffled the pack and could have been sent off for a rash late challenge. 5

Zak Brunt : A rare start from the on-loan midfielder but had no impact and subbed in the second half. 3

Cal Roberts : Smashed home the penalty with style but didn’t cause enough problems for Aldershot’s defence. 5

Ruben Rodrigues : Won the penalty but cut a frustrated figure for much of the game and sloppy in possession. 5

Aaron Nemane : His pace makes him a constant threat to defenders and he was probably Notts’ best performer on a dismal day. 6

SUBSTITUTES

Elisha Sam (for Nemane 67): Dropped to the bench after an indifferent performance when starting at Dover and did little to further his cause here. 4

Harry Arter (for Rawlinson 57): Apart from one decent cross looked well off the pace. 3

Kyle Wootton (for Brunt 57): Initially had an impact physically but faded as the game drifted away. 5
