Notts County returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at home to relegated Dover Athletic at Meadow Lane.
Saturday’s dismal defeat at Aldershot was forgotten as Ruben Rodrigues’ first-half goal saw Notts remain fifth in the National League with two games to go and requiring just one point to secure a play-off place.
Here is how the Notts players rated in the match.
Sam Slocombe : Had nothing to do when the teams met at the Crabble last Tuesday and was rarely troubled here, with only one save of note to make. 6
Jayden Richardson : A massive threat going forward on the right all game as he had little to worry about defensively, and supplied the cross for the goal. 8
Alex Lacey : Will not have an easier afternoon as lone Dover striker Michael Gyasi cut a forlorn figure. 7
Connell Rawlinson : One of the survivors from Saturday, when he had some shaky moments, but much more assured today, admittedly under far less pressure. 7
Joel Taylor : In many ways Notts’ forgotten man as Adam Chicksen has been preferred on the left in most games but showed he has plenty to offer with a positive performance. 7
Jim O’Brien : A rare start for the gritty midfielder but produced an excellent through pass for the opening goal and his experience will be vital as the season reaches a climax. 7
Harry Arter : Not his best game in a Notts shirt as too many passes went astray or slowed play down. Subbed in the second half. 5
Matt Palmer : Back to being the main man in midfield after enduring a frustrating time at Aldershot. 7
Ruben Rodrigues : Strangely subdued on Saturday but back to his bubbly best here and netted his 20th goal of the season. 7
Kyle Wootton : Great to see Notts’ leading scorer returning to the starting line-up after recovering from a back problem. 7
Elisha Sam : The big striker failed to impress when given a start against Dover last week but much improved here, though failed to make the most of several good chances. 7
Cal Roberts (for Arter 64): Had a massive impact when he came on to renew his partnership on the right with Richardson, including one thrilling run which deserved to end in a goal. 8
Ed Francis (for O’Brien 77): Perhaps unfortunate to be dropped as he was one of the better performers at Aldershot. 7
