Notts County complete second signing of summer after 'incredible' season

Notts County have signed Macaulay Langstaff from National League North champions Gateshead.

The 25-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Meadow Lane after the Magpies agreed to pay an undisclosed fee for the striker after monitoring the player's progress for some time. Langstaff division's player of the season last campaign and also ended up as the league's top scorer with 32 goals and assisted another 14 as the North East side notched 99 goals en route to the title.

Gateshead manager Mike Williamson is also among the favourites to become the next Notts manager. The former Newcastle United defender signed Langstaff back to the club from York City in 2020.

A statement from the club's board of directors makes clear their delight at the signing. “Macaulay possesses great pace, excellent movement and, most importantly, a genuine goal threat," it reads.

"His ability to attack spaces behind opposition defences creates chances from nothing and he has the poise and finishing technique to score goals at any level. He joins us after an incredible season at Gateshead and we’re delighted to have him on board for the next three years.”

Langstaff is Notts' second signing of the summer after the arrival of Tobi Adebayo-Rowling late last month. The right wing-back arrived from Ebbsfleet and signed a two-year contract at Meadow Lane.
