Notts County boss makes Geraldo Bajrami admission following Connell Rawlinson injury latest

Notts County boss Luke Williams has insisted he has to be careful with midfielder Geraldo Bajrami following his latest update on defender Connell Rawlinson.

The Magpies were without the 31-year-old for their trip to Scunthorpe last weekend, with the Notts boss revealing Rawlinson needs to recover naturally after picking up an injury during training two weeks ago.

Currently, Williams has just three fit central defenders in Kyle Cameron, Aden Baldwin, and Richard Brindley, with supporters concerned about the lack of depth at his disposal as the busy season continues.

One option the Magpies could turn to is Bajrami, who played in defence at the start of the campaign before being moved to central midfield.

The 23-year-old has not featured for Williams' side since their away win over Eastleigh last month, with John Bostock's arrival providing extra competition for places in midfield.

And the Notts boss was quick to highlight the importance of Bajrami to his side but insisted that he remains cautious with his involvements after knowing the full extent of Rawlinson's latest injury.

"At the moment I am being very careful with Baj because we don't have cover in the back line without Connell," explained Williams.

"Baj is a very good player and can play in several positions, he is not somebody that just goes in and is covering because it is not his natural position, he does not have that problem.

"He can play on the right, the left and in the middle, and of course we have seen him play in midfield at a very high level, so we are very fortunate with Baj because he is a fantastic addition to the squad.

"We have to be a little bit careful with him so that we don't leave ourselves short with cover in the back line at the moment."
