Nottinghamshire aerialist celebrates year of teaching after lockdown led her to start business

A Nottinghamshire aerialist is celebrating more than a year of her own aerial hoop business after the pandemic led her to teaching. Vicky Spooner, 29, has been doing aerial hoop for the past eight years and decided to start Aerial Athletica in November 2021 at Arena Health and Fitness, Newark.

Aerial hoop is a form of circus, where someone performs on a suspended circular steel apparatus that often spins. Vicky describes aerial hoop as "an all body workout."

Vicky said: "I followed the dream of becoming a professional performer and started teaching to keep a foot in the door. Turns out I absolutely love teaching.
