Nottingham woman dies nearly 2 years after she was set on fire by boyfriend

A woman who was set on fire by her boyfriend has died nearly two years after the initial attack. Ellen Marshall, who was originally from Nottingham but lived in Firbeck Avenue, Skegness, was doused in petrol and set alight at the east coast address by her boyfriend Leigh Pateman.

On April 22, 2021, Pateman picked up a jerry can of petrol during an argument with Ms Marshall and poured it onto her lap while she was sitting on an armchair. He then set her on fire, reports LincolnshireLive.

Emergency services were called at around 10.30pm that night and she was rushed to Nottingham City Hospital. She suffered burns of between 80 and 90% of her body.
