Nottingham shop owners speak out as free range eggs can no longer be sold

Independent shop owners in Nottingham have spoken out after being told they are no longer able to sell 'free range' eggs in store. The move came into force on Monday, March 21, due to an ongoing outbreak of Avian flu.

The change has caused confusion among independent food shops as many were unaware. Shops must now label their eggs as barn eggs instead of free-range as birds have not been able to be outside since the start of the outbreak in November.

Some shops will also be placing signs up around stores to explain the changes.
