Nottingham sex shop boss vow to 'fight until the end' after council decision

The future of Nottingham's oldest sex shop is in doubt after the city council agreed to sell the building, but its manager has assured customers he will 'fight until the end' to carry on trading if new owners have plans that don't involve his business. The decision was taken by Nottingham City Council on Monday, March 14 to pass on ownership of the property at 81-85 Upper Parliament Street.

The building is being leased to The Private Shop which has been supplying the city with sex toys and DVDs for more than 30 years. When approached by Nottinghamshire Live, manager Barry Maltby said he "didn't know anything" about it.

"I wasn't personally told," said the 52-year-old. "It's shocking. I don't know how it will affect the shop, only the future can tell. We'll just have to wait and see who buys the building and see if they want to keep us here - I'm hoping they keep us on.
