Nottingham Playhouse announces the cast of new 2022 Christmas Panto

Nottingham Playhouse has announced the cast of its eagerly awaited Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington for 2022. The pantomime will start on Friday, November 25 and run until Sunday, January 14 2023.

The show tells the tale of a courageous hero and his trusty cat as they set off on a quest for fame and fortune. The magical tale will transform the Nottingham theatre into the streets of London and the high seas where a battle with the evil King Rat will take place.

The show will see the return of Nottingham pantomime favourites such as John Elkington, who will be squeezing into an array of fabulous frocks to play Sarah The Cook. He will be joined by Lisa Ambalavanar who has starred in Beauty and The Beast at Nottingham Playhouse as Dick Whittington.

Tickets for the show are already on sale online with prices starting from £18.

Rosanna Bates will perform as Alice Fitzwarren, Christopher Chandler will star as King Rat and Danny Hendrix will act as Silly Billy. There will also be performances from Ewan Ling as Tom The Cat, TJ Lloyd as Alderman Fitzwarren and Natalie Winsor as Fairy Bowbells.

The show will be packed with all the trademark fun, dazzling dance and brilliant live music that Nottingham Pantominne is renowned for. It promises to be a festive family evening.

The panto will be written and directed by Nottingham Playhouse's artistic director, Adam Penford. Set and costume design will be by Mark Walters with musical direction by John Morton. The actors will also be accompanied by performances from The Youth Chorus which is made up of local talent.

Alongside the panto, The Playhouse will run its annual Christmas show for younger audience members. This year it will be Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The show is written and composed by two local artists, Anna Wheatley and Jack Quarton, and directed by Playhouse Associate Artist, Hannah Stone.

Nottingham Playhouse Chief Executive Stephanie Sirr said: “This year’s pantomime will be our sparkliest, funniest and most magical yet. Not only do we bring you the best performers from the West End and closer to home but we welcome back Uncle Johnnie on keys. He and the fantastic company will bring everyone together for a fabulous time with family and friends of all ages this Christmas."

"We will also be welcoming Santa to select performances and are pleased to offer a wide range of ticket prices from just £18 to make sure everyone can enjoy the adventures of Dick Whittington”
