Nottingham park and ride to close as flooding expected amid rising water levels in River Trent

A park and ride site is set to be closed as flooding is expected amid rising water levels in the River Trent.

Queens Park and Ride in Nottingham will be closed on Monday, February 21, it has been announced.

The site is expected to flood overnight on Sunday, February 20.

Heavy rain is forecast on Sunday and, due to the recent storms Dudley and Eunice, the park and ride will be closed off to the public.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council said: "Due to recent storms, the River Trent is rising and flooding is expected at Queens Park and Ride site overnight on Sunday 20th.

"To be on the safe side and help users plan journeys, we have decided to close it to the public on Monday 21st. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Heavy rain and high winds are forecast on Sunday, February 20, according to the Met Office.

The site was previously closed for more than a month last February following flooding in the area.
