Nottingham micropub that 'hasn't had a bad week' since relocating opens new beer garden

A small micropub in Nottingham has punters coming back for more. The micropub, Totally Tapped in Chilwell Road, Beeston, has even more space now as since opening a new beer garden.

The dog-friendly micropub opened earlier this year after moving just 100 yards away from its former premises. The micropub with ‘Instagrammable’ features, was initially set up six years ago.

Now, things are going even better than before in the new location on 140 Chilwell Road. Owner, Rob Witt said April had better trade than March and expects the business to progress. Rob said: “Things have been really, really good so far here, we’ve had good comments and feedback.

“It’s been good since we’ve moved, we’ve not had a bad week since.” The new outdoor space in the beer garden seats up to about 20 people.

With more bank holidays than usual this year, Rob continued: “We wanted to get the beer garden open before the bank holidays as those weekends tend to be the busiest. We wanted to create a space that’s nice and chilled and we have plants growing out here too.

“It’s a space in a nice environment with nature.”

After the Totally Brewed brewery, based in Meadow Lane, made a ‘tough decision’ earlier this year to close.

Now, Totally Tapped receives its supply from other local breweries including: Black Iris Brewery, Liquid Light, Neon Raptor and more. People in the area were glad to hear that Totally Tapped is doing well.

Sian Wright, 34 lives in Beeston. She said: “I’ve noticed it before when driving past, it’s in a good location: it’s near the tram stop, it’s not far from the Beeston High Road and if they’ve got a beer garden now, that means there’s room for more people.”

Sian, who works at a soft play centre added: “Beeston’s full of great independents.”

Twenty-one-year-old student, Harrison Myles lives in Chilwell. Harrison said: “It’s a very British thing sitting in a beer garden and having a drink on the bank holiday weekend, hopefully the weather ’s good. I come to Beeston quite a lot but I’ve never been to Totally Tapped.”

The student added: “It’s always good when places are dog friendly too.”
