A review into Nottingham hospital's maternity services is set to get underway. The review into Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH), which is being led by senior midwife Donna Ockenden, will officially start on Friday, September 1.
It was launched after more than 100 families with experiences of maternity failings wrote to former Health Secretary Sajid Javid demanding the action. A much-criticised initial review was subsequently scrapped.
Earlier this month Ms Ockenden, who uncovered 200 avoidable baby deaths at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust across two decades, urged families and staff to contact the review. NUH's maternity services at Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital are both rated 'inadequate' by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
