Nottingham's hospitals will receive major investment over the next decade in a bid to make them "fit for generations ahead".
Plans to transform the city's health services come as more people live longer and, as such, require treatment in hospital for any number of ailments which arise over the course of their lives.
An ageing population is evident in Nottingham city where 40 percent of the city council's budget goes towards adult social care, for example.
