Nottingham Forest youngster 'flying back' to seal Championship transfer

Nottingham Forest youngster Tyrese Fornah is believed to be close to securing a loan move to Reading.

The midfielder has been with his Reds teammates on a pre-season training camp in Spain as they prepare for the Premier League campaign. But he will fly back to the UK this afternoon to pen a season-long deal with the Royals, according to Football League World.

Fornah remains highly regarded at the City Ground. However, with Forest looking to strengthen in the centre of the pitch, opportunities would likely be even harder to come by this coming season.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign at Shrewsbury Town, having been struggling for regular game time Trentside. He was in fine form for the League One side, making 19 appearances - all but two of which came as part of the starting XI.

He had impressed on loan at Plymouth Argyle the previous season, too. A regular in the first-team for the Pilgrims, he featured a total of 44 times in all competitions. Prior to that, he had a spell at Portuguese side Casa Pia in 2020.

Having caught the eye in the third tier, Fornah will no doubt be keen to prove himself at the next level. His only Championship run-out for Forest came last term, as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers, when Chris Hughton was still in charge. However, he did start the Carabao Cup ties against Bradford City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and featured in the FA Cup under Sabri Lamouchi.

So far, Reds players Mohamed Drager and Ethan Horvath have headed out on loan as boss Steve Cooper shapes his squad for the new term. Youngster Jayden Richardson and goalkeeper Brice Samba have both left on permanent deals.
