Nottingham Forest are assessing their options ahead of the January transfer window.
The Reds made 23 new signings in the summer following their return to the Premier League. A disappointing start to the season has seen Forest fight to climb out of the relegation zone, though.
However, prior to the World Cup break, Forest's players have improved as they continue to gel together after a summer of upheaval. Steve Cooper's men are just one point adrift of safety and will be determined to have a positive start in the new year, having already been linked with reinforcements.

Here is the latest transfer news...
Forest closing in on transfer announcement
Nottingham Forest are set to announce the signing of Gustavo Scarpa following his exit from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras, according to reports.
The midfielder had reached an initial agreement with Forest to join on a free transfer given his contract with Palmeiras was set to expire at the end of the year. Scarpa spent four years at the Sao Paulo based side, racking up a total of 211 appearances.
This season alone, Scarpa played a total of 60 games in all competitions, scoring 13 times while providing 15 assists as his side claimed the Serie A league title. The 28-year-old, who is set to play in Europe for the first time in his career, is to on his way to England to sign a three-and-a-half year contract at the City Ground, according to journalist Konstantinos Lianos.
Youngster attracting Premier League interest
Nottingham Forest youngster Billy Fewster is understood to be attracting interest from four Premier League clubs as he looks to breakthrough at the City Ground.
The 19-year-old Under-21s midfielder has regularly trained with the first team and is currently with Steve Cooper's group along with the likes of Dale Taylor and Oliver Hammond after the senior players returned from their break.
Fewster is out of contract in the summer and would hope to extend his stay beyond then. A loan move for the attack minded midfielder in January is possible at League Two or National League level, although there is believed to be interest from League One.
Steve Cooper 'likely' to part ways with defender
Nottingham Forest are expected to move for a new central defender in the January transfer window, with a loan deal for Loic Bade expected to be cut short, according to reports.
The Reds made a move for the Rennes defender in the summer, with the player joining on a season-long loan on deadline day. He was one of many new arrivals in the summer window as Steve Cooper looked to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
However, since Bade moved to the City Ground he is yet to make an appearance for the club. The closest he has come is being an unused substitute in the Premier League game against Wolves back in October.
Cody Gakpo out of reach
Cody Gakpo was on Nottingham Forest's list of potential summer transfers. Admittedly it was a long list but it's understood the Reds were keen on the Dutch forward, who has been an early star of the World Cup.
There was intense interest from a host of clubs in the summer with Leeds, Forest, Arsenal and Southampton all linked. It was reported at one stage that Forest would land the 23-year-old with his fee reportedly rising to around £35m by the end of the summer.
Given he has scored in every game of the World Cup, only Arsenal look like a realistic destination from that list in January if he does move on. As well as the Gunners, Manchester United and Newcastle have been linked with the fee now said to be closer to £50m so credit to PSV Eindhoven for not cashing in a few months ago.
Forest to rival Jose Mourinho for transfer
The agent of Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Jamil Siebert has confirmed that there has been contact from Nottingham Forest regarding the player ahead of the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan with German third division side Viktoria Koln, where he has been since back in January.
The youngster has caught the eye with his performances for his loan club, with German outlet Kicker reporting that both Forest and Italian side AS Roma ‘have their eye’ on the player. It means that Forest would have to beat off any potential interest from Jose Mourinho, should they decide to make a move, either in January or the summer window.
