Nottingham Forest could have been dealt a blow in their reported interest in Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho, with the player agreeing to move to Lyon, according to reports.
Steve Cooper is keen to further add to his squad this transfer window with central midfield one of the areas being targeted. Reports over the last few days claim that Carvalho appears at the top of a shortlist of potential targets.
There were also claims that the Reds had opened talks with Real Betis over a summer move. It was added that Forest would have to beat off competition from French side Lyon, who were eyeing a swap deal with Betis which will see Houssem Aouar go the other way.

It now seems that a potential swap deal could be on the offing. According to goal , there is just one step to the deal between the two sides being completed, with Carvalho now ‘convinced’ to make the move to France.
The report adds that the midfielder has ‘accepted the conditions’ proposed to him by Lyon, after initially taking time to look around at his options in the market. It is said that the player has already asked Real Betis teammate Nabil Fekir about his former club.
There is however one stumbling block to the deal, which Forest could take advantage of. Goal also reports that the personal details on the side of Aouar are yet to be sorted. It is said that the player is looking for more money than what Betis are currently offering, with the whole deal dependent on if the two parties can agree personal terms.
Should a deal not be reached, then that could leave Forest with a free run at signing Carvalho this summer. With Betis keen to cash in this summer in order to reduce the wage bill at the club.
