Nottingham Forest transfer blow as Everton 'discuss' striker swap deal

Everton have 'discussed' a swap deal for reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Joel Piroe.

The Swansea striker has attracted the interest of Forest this summer, with Everton, Leicester and Southampton also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are looking to steal a march for his signature by offering 22-year-old striker Ellis Simms in a potential swap deal.

Piroe looks set to leave south Wales this summer, with only one year left on his contract. Our colleagues at WalesOnline understand he has told Swansea he has "no intention" of extending his deal at the club, sparking a summer transfer battle.

It is also said that no concrete offers been received by Swansea as yet, so it is one that could rumble on throughout the summer. It remains to be seen if Forest will firm up their interest in the Dutchman.

Piroe has scored 41 goals across the last two Championship seasons, netting 19 times last term as he looks to run down his contract. He had a staggering £20million asking price on his head last summer, but that is likely to be significantly reduced 12 months on.

Speaking about Piroe last week, Swansea boss Michael Duff said: “I had some good conversations with Joel at our training camp in Spain last week and he was asking about detail in what I want from him.

“Until anything changes we will keep on having those conversations. If he goes, he goes, and if he doesn’t he stays - it is not personal, it’s football.

“I understand he’s the big name at the club and only has a year left on his contract. There will be plans in place in terms of the way we play if he stays, and plans for if he goes.”
