Nottingham Forest target makes Reds transfer admission as rivals have bid rejected

Championship rivals Millwall are interested in landing Nottingham Forest summer target Zian Flemming, according to reports.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett is said to be a long-term admirer of the Fortuna Sittard midfielder.

Amsterdam-born Flemming has made 49 outings and scored 17 goals, while providing 10 assists along the way.

Forest were linked with the 23-year-old in the summer but the move never materialised.

Speaking to Dutch sports outlet Voetball International amid Millwall's interest, Flemming revealed: "The Championship is a good step for me, it was the same with Nottingham Forest last summer.

"Then, I honestly indicated that I wanted to go there. Millwall is also a nice option, but you know how it went last summer. My opinion, doesn't really matter."

Millwall have seen a bid knocked back for the 23-year-old, who is under contract with the Dutch side until 2024.

Rowett told the South London Press: "He is a player that we’ve liked and a player we have tried to sign on numerous occasions.

"We put a bid in and at the moment that has turned down by Sittard, which is there prerogative – I get that.

"That is really as far as it has gone.

"I heard the comments about the player being keen to move to England but again that is down to his parent club."

Fortuna manager Sjors Ultee added: "If there is a lot of money, then I also know how it works. As a trainer, you look at the short term.

"We need Zian badly and I think he will stay here no matter what is offered.

"But it’s not that simple in football."

Fortuna are currently fighting for survival in the Eredivisie, sitting in 17th place after 19 games.
