Here are your latest Nottingham Forest headlines from NottinghamshireLive on Thursday, May 25.
Nav's future in focus
Keylor Navas has expressed a “desire” to stay in the Premier League after helping Nottingham Forest secure their top flight status.
But a return to the East Midlands club appears unlikely due to the player’s ambitions and wages.
The Costa Rica international made the move to England’s top division after losing his place at Paris Saint-Germain to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the start of the season. Navas moved to the City Ground on loan in the January transfer window, having only made two cup appearances with the Parisians this season.
Lyle in demand
Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is attracting interest from two Championship clubs and a League One play-off finalist ahead of the summer transfer window.
A report by Football League World says three English clubs are “keen” on the 33-year-old front man with Millwall, Rotherham United and promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday said to be big admirers of the player.
There is also reported interest from the MLS in Taylor’s services but it is believed that the forward’s preferred option is to remain in England. Taylor is expected to leave the City Ground when his current contract expires at the end of next month, having been frozen out at the Premier League outfit.
Rising Italian star linked to Reds
Nottingham Forest have been linked with interest in Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno ahead of the summer transfer window.
Toro News has already claimed that Steve Cooper has shown interest in the 23-year-old centre-back who scored a goal and popped up with two assists in his breakthrough season for the Serie A side.
Italian outlet Calciomercato has added further weight to the speculation, claiming Bournemouth have joined the Reds in the hunt for his signature, while Tuttosport cites Brentford as another interested party from the Premier League, alongside Forest and the Cherries.
Gibbs-White left out but not ignored
Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has been told he could be one of the “next ones in” after being omitted from Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.
The 23-year-old has, however, been selected for Lee Carsley’s Under-21s instead, and will take part in a training camp at St. George’s Park in June, ahead of this summer’s UEFA U21 EURO Finals in Romania and Georgia.
Gibbs-White has been the standout player for Forest in their successful fight against relegation this season, after joining from Wolves in the summer. The midfielder has scored three times and provided two assists in Forest’s last six Premier League games.
Forest fans fume at England snub
Nottingham Forest fans have given an angry response to Morgan Gibbs-White not being included in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.
Southgate was said to be keeping an eye on the Forest record signing ahead of announcing his 25-man squad for next month’s European qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. But Gibbs-White has not been selected for the squad, with the likes of Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze and Chelsea's Conor Gallagher preferred.
