Nottingham Forest sent 'mouths shut' warning amid divided referee reaction

Nottingham Forest supporters have given mixed responses to a report that the club are preparing a formal complaint over the standard of Premier League refereeing this season.

The news emerged earlier on Monday, with Forest said to be aggrieved at decisions over the course of the campaign, including some made during the 2-2 draw against Everton this past weekend.

Some supporters are backing Forest in their decision to complain, while others are urging the club to think twice about formally voicing their displeasure. Below is a look at what fans are saying on Twitter.

@Allers27 : The only reason they got to the Prem was a blundering referee.

@SimpsonsNffc : We've been out at least 7 points this season because of it. That would put us 1 point behind Villa and Chelsea and basically safe from relegation

@loose_tip : Yes the referee was poor, but inexcusable for them to win 3 free headers for their second goal, shocking! Yes it wasn’t a free kick but you’ve got to defend better than that!

@Telberto_Carlos : Let's be honest, it's evened itself out pretty well this season. We've gotten away with a few things this season especially early on. Never a good look complaining about refs especially after another poor team selection and shoddy performance

@PaulOfFame : I’m a Forest fan. I thought the ref was superb yesterday. VAR also got their calls spot-on (eg Coleman kicking Colback’s calf). I’d like to see less moaning and squaring-up from our lads. Aurier, Yates, Johnson etc are a dissent yellow waiting to happen.

@Plasticcpaddy : That’s the refs on our case for the remainder of the season

@Twheatman : There have been some shocking decisions made but surely that's the same for most teams? I'm fed up of defenders getting away with blatant yellow cards enabling them to make another poor tackle. Koulibaly got away with loads against us, as did Everton yesterday. No consistency

@FPLaugur : Refereeing in the Premier League feels like a two-tier system. I understand the league wants the best refs to do the high profile games, which we’re rarely in. As a result, we seldom see Oliver, Taylor, etc who are top class and instead get inexperienced refs like Brooks.

@shaneatkins24 : Some decisions on Sunday were completely baffling and frustrating. We’ve had a lot of poor decisions so far this season.

@TylerNedruds : I’m a Nottingham Forest fan and even I have to admit this is wrong, it was the other way around. I was the game yesterday and I felt like the referee let us off with hell a lot including a stonewall second penalty for Everton! We were lucky, I’d keep our mouths shut.
