Nottingham Forest's Lyle Taylor criticises Chelsea star's 'unsettling' penalty technique

Lyle Taylor has become well known for his peculiar technique when it comes to penalties, but few were expecting the Nottingham Forest striker to have some pearls of wisdom for international star Jorginho.

It came after Jorginho missed from the penalty spot against West Ham. Fortunately, for the Italy international, Christian Pulisic scored in second-half stoppage time to spare him any blushes.

The seasoned international penalty taker will no doubt receive plenty of criticism for his unusual technique and Taylor - currently on-loan at Birmingham City - was one of those who raised questions.

When Jorginho takes a penalty, he will take a side-step before jogging forwards. Just as he is about to strike the ball, however, he will do a slight skip intended to confuse the opposing goalkeeper. It completely back-fired against West Ham, however.

Taking to his Instagram story, the Forest striker suggested the skip before striking the ball makes it a lot easier for the goalkeeper. He said: "I'll never understand Jorginhio's penalty technique. It must be so unsettling as the taker with the actual strike of the ball. It's never a clean strike."

Taylor has a peculiar technique himself as he walks slowly towards the ball from outside the penalty area before calmly striking it from 12 yards. It has proved to be a successful technique, however, with him missing just eight of 25 spot kicks. Jorginho has missed seven penalties in his career, but has scored 38. A success rate of 84% compared to Taylor's 75% conversion.
