Nottingham Forest record signings as Taiwo Awoniyi moves closer to City Ground

Nottingham Forest have moved a step closer to confirming their first signing of the summer in the form of Union Berlin forward Taiwo Awoniyi.

The 24-year-old Bundesliga ace travelled to England on June 23 in order to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the City Ground being confirmed.

After signing for Liverpool back in 2015, Awoniyi failed to make a single appearance for the club during a six-year spell at the club. He was dispatched on seven loans across Europe due to work permit issues.

But his move to the Midlands could come at a hefty cost for Forest as reports claim the deal will be worth around £17.5million.

Such a fee would mean the Nigeria international would join an exclusive list of players as a club-record purchase for Nottingham Forest. This is who he could rank alongside if he completes his move to the City Ground....

Joao Carvalho // Joined July 2018 // £13.2m

Lewis Grabban // July 2018 // £6m

Britt Assombalonga // August 2014 // £5.5m

Pierre van Hooijdonk // July 1996 // £4.5m

David Johnson // February 2001 // £3.5m
