Nottingham Forest receive Jesse Lingard transfer instruction as future addressed

Nottingham Forest supporters are beginning to hope that Jesse Lingard sees out the season with the Reds after finding form before the season paused for the World Cup.

Lingard, 30, endured a difficult start to life at the City Ground, falling out of head coach Steve Cooper 's starting XI in the Premier League and starting five matches as a substitute. The summer signing did, though, impress in the final two matches before the World Cup break, scoring and assisting either goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup third round before then starting the following match against Crystal Palace.

Some Reds fans now seem to be changing their opinion on the player and want to see more of him in a Garibaldi shirt. Here is a selection of the reaction from our Nottingham Forest News page on Facebook about Lingard.

Chris Dillon: After his last few games at Forest, I'm happy for him to see out the season. If you'd have asked me a few weeks into the season, I'd have been happy to see the back of him.

Lisa Haskard: I do really hope he is in our plans. When he played in midfield in the Carabao Cup, he looked more in his comfort zone than on the left wing. But we do have too many players, work hard, Jesse, and you will get the spot.

Ashleigh Ellison: I think he needs to go. We have too many players, and with more to come, I can't see him improving on what he's already achieved at Forest.

John Finlayson: He’s going nowhere this season. If we go down, he’s off the books. If we stay up, there will be a negotiation for a longer contract.

Burts : Hope Jesse reaches the successful targets he has set for Forest. On his day, he is world-class.

CloughiesGreenShirt : We are behind you, Jesse.

HonestMo: He was starting to look like the player we wanted him to be just before the break. Really hoping he can maintain that, and the break hasn't destroyed his momentum.
