Nottingham Forest reach 'full agreement' on £7.6m transfer as Miltiadis Marinakis role revealed

Nottingham Forest are said to have reached "full agreement" with Atalanta on the signing of midfielder Remo Freuler.

The Reds are closing in on yet another summer transfer and the situation appears to have developed further on Thursday. Forest are reported to have struck a deal for the Switzerland international worth €9million (around £7.6m), plus add-ons.

Freuler is apparently set to sign a three-year contract at the City Ground, with a medical now "booked" in. He could become the club's 13th senior recruit of the summer transfer window so far.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the deal, and also revealed that Miltiadis Marinakis - son of Forest owner Evangelos - was playing a key role.

Romano posted on Twitter: "Remo Freuler to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Full agreement for €9m plus add-ons. Remo will sign until June 2025, medical booked.

"Huge signing, one more international Swiss midfielder and key player for Atalanta - Miltiadis Marinakis on it, showing ambition again."

Freuler has made 260 appearances for Atalanta during his time at the club, contributing 21 goals and 23 assists. Currently vice-captain at the Bergamo-based outfit, Freuler comes with an impressive pedigree, having featured 40 times across the Champions League and Europa League.

Meanwhile, Forest are also reported to have made a club record bid of around £20m for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis.
