Nottingham Forest 'reach agreement' over free transfer as contract details revealed

Nottingham Forest have reportedly reached an agreement to sign free agent and full-back Djibril Sidibe.

The Frenchman has recently left AS Monaco following the expiration of his contract, after six years at the club, where he made 174 appearances, contributing with 23 assists. The 30-year-old is familiar to the Premier League, having spent a season-long stint at Everton during the 2019/20 campaign.

According to FootMercato, the Reds are closing in on a transfer, with an "agreement reached" between player and club, though "some details still need to be settled." The report also adds that the two parties have agreed on a "one year contract plus one optional."

However, Forest are said to be also "studying other avenues", such as Tottenham defender Serge Aurier.

Sidibe previously spoke about his ambitions in an interview with L'Equipe. "I don't want to go to exotic places, I want to play as many very high-level matches as possible, with the World Cup in sight," he said. "I want to experience these sensations as much as possible because physically, I no longer have problems.

"If I feel good, I don't see why I would deprive myself of these dreams. I'm still hungry. I'm still ready for the very high level and the injuries have passed. Anyway, big clubs have sophisticated tools to scan players and I am very well accompanied on the physical aspect, I have no worries."
