Nottingham Forest questioned over reports of key departures

Nottingham Forest supporters have questioned Evangelos Marinakis' reported decision to sack head of recruitment George Syrianos and head scout Andy Scott.

The Reds brought in 21 new players in the summer transfer window following promotion to the Premier League in May, with almost £150 million spent.

Syrianos and Scott's departure was reported by The Telegraph on Tuesday evening, days after Steve Cooper committed his future to the club with a new contract.

The decision is said to have been made following a review, conducted by Marinakis and recently-appointed sporting director Filippo Giraldi, of the business completed in the transfer window.

Forest fans have been reacting to the latest developments on social media...

@tehlolninja: Be nice if someone could articulate what was wrong with the strategy. What were they actually unhappy with?

@Ere1865: Some of the transfers have not been great, but I don't think there's been any glaring howlers.

@chrish11072: We beat Leicester, beat Arsenal and narrowly lost to Liverpool. We showed that team could compete at the top. They should have a been a priority.

@nffc_jackx: What message does that send to our players?

@84Blads: Quite right, whilst we needed the numbers, how many of the players that we signed fitted the system Steve Cooper wants to play? We have next to no pace at the back and a mish mash of CMs who all suit alternate ways of playing.

@360JoshC: Scapegoats and nothing more. The amount of people who aren't worried by this is baffling.

@realRobbiSiKK: This will not help bring cohesion to the dressing room.

Do you think sacking Syrianos and Scott was the correct decision? Have your say in the comments section...
