Nottingham Forest Premier League fate in balance as remaining games given difficulty rating

Struggling Nottingham Forest face a tough end to the season. And just how tough has now been revealed after the Reds remaining Premier League fixtures were analysed.

Steve Cooper's side, currently in the midst of a six-game run since their last Premier League victory, are just two points above the bottom three relegation places with 11 fixtures left to play.

Amongst those remaining games are tough fixtures against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as matches against relegation rivals Crystal Palace and Southampton.

The number crunchers at Opta, as reported by Tribuna, have used a statistical model ranking the difficulty of the remaining Premier League matches for each side. The higher a team is on the table the more difficult their remaining fixtures are, and it appears to be bad news for the Reds.

According to Opta's calculations, Forest have the third hardest run in, with only Brentford and Aston Villa ranked tougher. Abd just to rub salt into the Forest wounds, fellow relegation battlers Crystal Palace have been given the easiest run in, with Leicester City and Bournemouth the fourth and fifth easiest.

Forest are next in action on Saturday when they face fellow relegation strugglers Wolves at the City Ground (3pm kick-off) before another crucial clash at Leeds three days later. In truth, the results of those games are likely to have a bigger baring on Forest's fate than any speculative chart.

Opta Power Ranking of the opponents for each team from hardest to easiest...

Aston Villa 41.9

Nottingham Forest 43.7
