Nottingham Forest’s Brandon Aguilera pressed his claims for a World Cup starting berth with 45 minutes for Costa Rica in their 2-1 friendly win over Uzbekistan.
The 19-year-old played the first half in South Korea and was replaced at the interval with his side trailing 1-0. It was the youngster’s fourth cap.
Two injury-time goals sealed the win for an experimental Costa Rica line-up who open their campaign in Qatar against Spain on November 23. Germany and Japan complete a tough Group E.

Aguilera signed for the Reds from LD Alajuelense in the summer but was immediately loaned out to Guanacasteca in the Costa Rican Premier League.
The versatile midfielder told The Athletic: “It is a dream come true for me to come over to England and be part of this club, which has such rich traditions and history that’s known around the world.
“The City Ground is a fantastic stadium and I can’t wait to experience it in full voice in the future.”
Until then he has had to make do with nine starts for Guanacasteca who currently prop up their six-team league having lost ten of their 14 fixtures.
