Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis shows his support at Liverpool FA Cup tie

Owner Evangelos Marinakis was in attendance at the City Ground for Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup quarter-final with Liverpool.

The Greek businessman last watched the Reds in person back in March 2020, when Sabri Lamouchi was still in charge. That was a 3-0 defeat at home to Millwall, after which Marinakis tested positive for coronavirus. He is on the banks of the Trent for a tasty-looking last-eight tie with Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League side, however. And it promises to be a great occasion.

It is the first time the two teams have faced each other for 23 years. It is also the first time Forest have been in the quarter-finals of the competition since 1996. Steve Cooper’s side have already seen off Arsenal, holders Leicester City and Huddersfield Town in the cup. It comes as they are battling for promotion at the same time, pushing for a place in the Championship top-six.

The winners of the tie will face Manchester City in the semi-finals at Wembley.
