Nottingham Forest have reportedly offered "a lot of money" to hijack Real Betis' bid to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
It was reported last month that Forest faced competition from the Spanish side, who were eyeing a swap deal for Aouar, involving another one-time Reds target, William Carvalho. However, journalist Matteo Moretto says there has been no progress on that deal between the two clubs.
He claims that agreeing personal terms with Aouar could be a stumbling block for Betis. And while the Frenchman would be keen on the move to Spain, there have apparently been other clubs interested and Forest have offered the most money, according to Moretto.

Aouar joined Lyon's academy at the age of 11 and progressed through the ranks, before making his senior appearance at 19. Last season he made 44 appearances in all competitions, contributing eight goals and four assists.
The 24-year-old is yet to agree to fresh terms, however, having entered the final year of his current deal, so the club will be keen to cash in on the midfielder before it is too late. It is also said that the France international is represented by ICM Stellar Sports, the same agency that represent Forest trio Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards and Dean Henderson.
Aouar has made a total of 215 appearances for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, with 40 goals and 35 assists along the way.
