Nottingham Forest loanee makes admission about future as FA Cup cash boost outlined

Defender Max Lowe has suggested he would like to stay at Nottingham Forest beyond the end of his loan spell in the summer.

The Sheffield United loanee is spending the season at the City Ground, having made the move last August, and says he is enjoying his time at the club.

Aside from a couple of months when he was out injured, Lowe has been a regular starter and a consistent performer for the Reds, with his left wing-back spot key to how boss Steve Cooper likes to play.

Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom recently said a call would need to be made over his left-backs at the end of the campaign, given Rhys Norrington-Davis and Enda Stevens are also on the books.

Cash boost

Nottingham Forest’s brilliant FA Cup run has provided the club with a welcome cash boost of more than £500,000, according to figures from the Football Association.

The Reds reached the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time since 1996 when they saw off Huddersfield Town 2-1 on Monday night.

They came from behind against their Championship rivals courtesy of goals from Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates in front of a bumper crowd at the City Ground.

And that victory sets up a last-eight meeting with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool on the banks of the Trent, which will take place a week on Sunday.

Transfer talk

Blackpool expect there to be interest in Nottingham Forest target Josh Bowler in the summer as he enjoys a purple patch of form.

The Reds had multiple bids for the winger turned down in the January transfer window. Deadline day saw them go head-to-head with Championship rivals Bournemouth in an attempt to secure his signature - to no avail.

The 23-year-old’s contract with the Seasiders runs out at the end of this season, but the club hold an option for a 12-month extension.

And with another of their players, Marvin Ekpiteta recently penning a new deal, there has been talk about whether Bowler could follow suit.

Home run

Boss Steve Cooper wants to ensure Nottingham Forest embrace the challenge of an unusual run of four successive home games - even though it means extra work for the City Ground staff.

The Reds ticked off the first of those matches on their own turf by beating Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Monday night.

Their 2-1 victory put them through to the quarter-finals of the competition, where they will host Premier League Liverpool a week on Sunday.

Before then, Forest welcome Reading this weekend, followed by a visit from QPR next Wednesday night as they aim to close the gap on the Championship’s play-off spots.
