Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing former Leicester City and Newcastle United centre-forward Islam Slimani this summer.
The 33-year-old now plays for Sporting back in Portugal after spells in France and Turkey since leaving the Premier League permanently last year. Slimani has not found the same form back in Lisbon that saw Leicester spend a then-club record transfer fee on the striker.
Four goals followed in 12 matches following a free transfer from Lyon in February as Rúben Amorim side failed to defend their title. The Algeria international is again expected to be on the move this summer after being left out of the squad for seven of their last eight matches of the season in league and cup.

Portuguese sports newspaper Record (via Sport Witness ) are reporting Forest's interest. The publication state that talks with the player have not started yet, but suggest that the Reds are looking to sign a striker and have Slimani "on their list".
They insist that the player will not be staying in the Portuguese capital and add that former club Fenerbache and Al Hilal have also been linked. Nothing is expected imminently though, with the player's current focus said to be on Algeria's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers over the next week, after which the player will decide their next move.
Slimani would bring Premier League experience to the Forest squad having made a total of 40 appearances, four of which came during a short stint on loan at Newcastle United. Only eight goals followed in the league, all but one of which came in the player's debut campaign.
