Nottingham Forest are reportedly targeting a move for Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson.
The 39-year-old joined the Gers in 2019 and worked with former manager Steven Gerrard to build the side that remained unbeaten to claim the 2021 league title, with the Glasgow club also reaching the Europa League final during his time at Ibrox. More recently, Wilson has been questioned by fans as star players Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are set to leave for free this summer.
Forest announced on Tuesday that sporting director Filippo Giraldi had left the club after six months with the Reds. Wilson previously held sporting director and senior recruitment roles at Watford, Huddersfield Town and Southampton before heading to Scotland.

The Athletic has stated that Forest are “working on a deal” to bring Wilson to the City Ground in a senior football role. The recruitment chief is claimed to be the club’s “preferred candidate” as they search for Giraldi’s replacement.
The former Watford football director is said to have been tracked by Forest before “entering negotiations” with Rangers. Wilson has previously turned down offers that would have seen him return to England but there is reportedly confidence that Forest can convince him to join the Reds.
A club statement on Tuesday confirmed Giraldi’s departure: “Nottingham Forest’s Sporting Director, Filippo Giraldi, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. He leaves the Club amicably with our best wishes.
“Filippo would like to place on record his thanks to the Club and wishes Nottingham Forest best of luck for the future.”
