Nottingham Forest defender Tobias Figueiredo could reportedly leave the club before the end of the January transfer window.
Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes are said to be keen on taking the player back to his native Portugal in the final days of the month.
Figueiredo has just six months remaining on his contract at the City Ground, meaning that he is free to negotiate a pre-contract with overseas clubs this month.
However, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo (via SportsWitness ), Vitoria are looking to sign the player before the end of the season.
The report says that the Portuguese side are though unwilling to pay a transfer fee for the player, meaning that Forest will have to release him from the final months of his contract should a deal be done this month.
It is said that ‘negotiations’ over that possibility are ‘ongoing’ and any deal this month will depend on Forest’s decision over the short-term future of the player.
Figueiredo has played a total of 19 times for Forest so far this season but has not featured so far in 2022, being an unused substitute in the last three Championship games.
The arrival of experienced defender Steve Cook during the January transfer window has pushed the 27-year-old down the pecking order under Steve Cooper.
The head coach said that he will not stand in the way of any players who want to leave before the end of the January window in order to get more regular game time elsewhere.
The defender has been with Forest since moving from Sporting, initially on loan back in January 2018, and has made a total of 113 appearances in the Garibaldi red.
