Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Saturday, 13 May, 2023.
Warnock provides survival advice
Neil Warnock has issued advice to Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper after navigating another relegation battle.
The 74-year-old was appointed by Huddersfield Town in February as the Terriers looked to climb out of the bottom three in the Championship. Despite taking over with the club 23rd in the table, Warnock led the Yorkshire club to safety with a game to spare, picking up 25 points during his 15 games in charge.
Forest lifted themselves out of the relegation zone and took a huge step towards safety with their vital win over Southampton on Monday. The club are now three points clear of 18th with three games remaining and Warnock has offered advice on how Steve Cooper can ensure his team stay away from danger.

Solution to key problem
Nottingham Forest’s solution to their set-piece vulnerability is to try to cut down on the number they give away.
The Reds have shipped 16 goals from set-pieces in the Premier League so far this season. Only Bournemouth, with 21, have conceded more.
It has proved costly as Steve Cooper ’s side battle to stay in the Premier League and has particularly come to the fore in recent weeks. Liverpool were able to exploit that frailty at Anfield, with Forest leaving empty-handed despite their performance meriting a result. Meanwhile, Cheikhou Kouyate parting from the wall led to Ivan Toney sparking Brentford’s comeback a fortnight ago.
Chelsea injury update
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Ben Chilwell has been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, but they could welcome Wesley Fofana back into the side.
Forest travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend as both teams look to build on morale-boosting wins in their last outing. The Reds came out as 4-3 winners over Southampton while Chelsea beat Bournemouth 3-1.
The Blues were given an injury problem during the game though with full-back Chilwell forced off the pitch with a hamstring injury. Ahead of the clash against Forest, Lampard has confirmed that the England international won’t be back in time, with international teammates Mason Mount and Reece James also ruled out of the clash.
Aurier fitness hint
Nottingham Forest defender Serge Aurier has hinted that he could be fit to feature in the club’s Premier League clash against Chelsea with the player appearing to have travelled with the rest of the squad.
Forest will be making their way down to London tonight (Friday) ahead of Saturday’s clash at Stamford Bridge. Steve Cooper ’s side go into the game looking to pick up just their second away win of the season, but know a point will keep them out of the relegation zone for another week.
Aurier has been a key player for Forest this season, since joining on a free transfer in the summer. He has though been rated as ‘touch and go’ as to if he would be fit enough to play against Chelsea.
