Nottingham Forest will hope to prove a point this weekend as Paul Merson admits he is “worried” about Wolves.
The Reds earned a well-deserved draw against Aston Villa on Monday, bringing their string of defeats to an end. Manager Steve Cooper, buoyed by his new contract, will be looking to build upon the result at the City Ground when they take on managerless Wolves, who dropped into the bottom three last weekend after a defeat to Chelsea.
Merson described Forest as “all over the place” following their 4-0 loss to Leicester last week but believes the team are beginning to “show what they’re capable of” after a difficult start to the season. Despite his optimism, however, the pundit has still backed Wolves to take three points at Molineux

“I was at Stamford Bridge to watch Wolves play against Chelsea in the Premier League the other day, and I'm a bit worried about what I saw,” Merson told Sportskeeda , predicting a 3-1 loss for Forest. “Wolves played a lot of good football, but they didn't go anywhere with it. Every time Chelsea had a go, Wolves were so open.
“When Diego Costa does get match-fit, I think Wolves will do well. I don't think they'll go down this season, but they'll need to sort a few things out. They're decent going forward, but they're poor at the back.
“Nottingham Forest are starting to show a little bit of what they're capable of. I still think they're going to get it right with Steve Cooper - the new contract nips speculation in the bud. Wolves have been a better team going forward, however, and should be able to win this game.”
Looking ahead to the game this weekend, Cooper admitted that defender Moussa Niakhate is still “nowhere near” fully fit. Elsewhere, Omar Richards is still facing a spell on the sidelines while Jack Colback has been suffering with a back problem.
