Chelsea have dealt Nottingham Forest a possible transfer blow over reported target Anthony Gordon.
The 21-year-old has found himself struggling for form after enjoying a breakout season, last term. Despite scoring twice in the first five games of this campaign, Gordon has started just once in the league since the start of November and did not feature in Everton’s defeat to West Ham at the weekend, which ultimately cost Frank Lampard his job.
It was reported last week that Forest were one of four sides to have made “enquiries” around Gordon’s availability this month. However, it appears that Chelsea have now re-entered the transfer battle for the Everton forward after reportedly seeing a £60m offer knocked back in the summer.

The Daily Mail has reported that Chelsea have reignited their interest in Gordon as their spending spree continues. Graham Potter’s side have already splashed out more than £150m this month and are said to be rivalling Newcastle in a move for the Everton starlet, who is “expected to leave” this month.
The report states that Newcastle began talks with the Toffees last week but are unwilling to match Everton’s £60m valuation had planned to use striker Chris Wood as part of a potential deal, before he completed his loan move to Forest. Meanwhile, it is claimed that Chelsea would be “willing” to loan Gordon back to Everton for the rest of the season, if they manage to agree a deal.
Forest and Newcastle were mentioned by 90min , alongside Leicester City and Aston Villa, as the clubs that had expressed an interest in Gordon after it was revealed that Everton were “considering approaches” for the England u21 international. The Reds have been linked with several wingers throughout January, including Roma’s Nicolo Zainolo and Lyon’s Tete.
