Nottingham Forest will take on Sheffield United in the semi-final of the Championship play-offs as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.
The Reds went into the final game of the season knowing that they were guaranteed to finish in at least fourth place in the Championship table. Steve Cooper’s side secured their place in the end-of-season lottery with a 1-0 win over Champions Fulham at the end of last month.
A midweek loss against Bournemouth ended Forest’s hopes of automatic promotion, meaning they went into the final game against Hull knowing that a play-off campaign will be around the corner.

Cooper therefore made eight changes to his starting lineup, with one eye on next week’s semi-final. A 1-1 draw against Hull, coupled with other results means that Forest finished the season in fourth place.
Sheffield United recorded a 4-0 win over Fulham at Bramall Lane, meaning that they finished in fifth position. Forest will therefore face the Blades in the semi-final.
The first leg will take place at Bramall Lane before the Forest bring them back to the City Ground for the second leg. Dates and kick off times will be confirmed in the coming days.
It is set to be a close affair between the two sides, with both the home and away fixture in the Championship this season finishing in 1-1 draws. Repeats of those results would see the tie go to nail-biting extra time and possibly penalties for a place at Wembley Stadium.
The other semi-final will see Huddersfield Town take on Luton Town, with the second leg played at the John Smith's Stadium.
