Nottingham Forest have been dealt a significant blow in their reported pursuit of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a return to England this month after leaving Bournemouth in 2021. It was previously reported that Danjuma had flown to the UK for discussions over a move to the Premier League, with Forest touted as one of the forward’s potential suitors.
Danjuma has been utilised as both a striker and winger during his time with the Yellow Submarine, registering 26 goal involvements across 51 appearances, but has seen his minutes reduced this term. After being granted permission to leave Villarreal, the forward is reportedly on the verge of joining Everton.

In a fresh update on the winger’s future, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Danjuma’s move to Everton is a “done deal”. It is suggested that the two clubs have reached a full agreement over a loan deal, which does not include an option to buy.
Forest were claimed to be facing competition for Danjuma’s signature from Tottenham, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Everton. Villa boss Unai Emery recently distanced his side from the possibility of signing Danjuma but the Reds were still mooted to be in contention for the Netherlands international.
Romano added that the former Bournrmouth man had also received interest from French and Dutch teams before opting to join Frank Lampard’s side. The journalist said that Danjuma would shortly be undergoing a medical, with Everton looking to improve their forward options in order to fight their way out of the relegation zone, five points behind the Reds in 13th.
Forest have already bolstered their attacking ranks this month as Steve Cooper looked to cope with Taiwo Awoniyi’s spell on the sidelines and bring more firepower to his squad. Newcastle United striker Chris Wood completed his loan move until the end of the season on Friday, having signed from Burnley for £25m last January.
