Chelsea’s interest in centre-backs this summer could be good news for Nottingham Forest amid reported interest in Levi Colwill.
The 19-year-old impressed on a season-long loan with Huddersfield Town last season. His name is well known to Reds’ fans after his role in the play-off final back in May.
It was the central defender who was the player to score the decisive goal in Forest’s 1-0 win at Wembley Stadium when he turned James Garner’s ball into the box beyond his own goalkeeper. It was the goal that saw Steve Cooper’s side seal their return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.

Forest are one of a few Premier League clubs, along with Leicester City and Southampton to be credited with an interest in the defender . The Reds have though just strengthened their defensive options with the signing of Giulian Biancone
Latest reports suggest that Colwill will seek a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer if he feels that he will not be included in Thomas Tuchel’s first team plans for the 2022/23 campaign. Incomings at centre-back at Stamford Bridge could therefore have an impact in the player’s future this summer.
Chelsea are on the lookout for reinforcements in the area following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers.
The Blues are said to be interested in bringing academy graduate Nathan Ake back to the club from Manchester City. They have also been heavily linked with a move for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Latest reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest that the Dutchman is Chelsea’s number one target this summer with the club in pole position to land the player. The report claims that a deal between the two clubs could see Tuchel’s side pay as much as €90 million (£77.5m) for De Ligt.
Should that deal go through then that could be good news for Forest, with Colwill likely to fall down the pecking order and freeing him up for a move elsewhere. If a move would be permanent or a loan deal is still to be seen.
