Nottingham Forest confirm senior appointments as chairman sets out target

Chairman Nicholas Randall believes the appointment of two senior figures at Nottingham Forest shows the club’s ambition of trying to establish themselves in the top-flight.

Wendy Taylor takes up the post of director of communications at the City Ground, and Tyson Henly has been appointed the Reds’ chief commercial officer. It comes after Filippo Giraldi was recently brought in as sporting director at the club.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Wendy and Tyson, who will provide us with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in their respective fields, thanks to their extensive backgrounds in domestic, European and international football,” Randall said in a statement.

“We are striving to establish ourselves as a top-flight club both on and off the pitch and it is vital that we are therefore able to deliver at the highest level across the business. Key to this is having a strong senior leadership team and these appointments have been made to reinforce our existing expertise following the recent arrival of Filippo Giraldi as sporting director.”

Taylor spent eight years as head of media & communications at Newcastle United and also has experience of working with Team GB Football at the 2020 Olympic Games. More recently, she was strategic communications lead for the senior England Women’s team at the Football Association, leading the communications strategy for the 2019 World Cup and 2022 European Championships.

Henly recently spent three years as chief commercial officer with Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco. He has more than two decades of global sports marketing and sales experience under his belt and is a former UEFA executive.

Head coach Steve Cooper has previously said of the arrival of Giraldi: “The role of a sporting director is, I think, a good thing for the club. It’s the modern approach and the modern way, so we should be looking to do things like that. You have to have an open mind to all these things.

“Both of us are working really hard to spend as much time together as we can and get a good feeling for each other and what we believe in. The more together all areas of the club can be, and the more of a collective we can be, the better that will stand us in good stead.”
