Nottingham Forest confirm pre-season tour as two friendlies added to schedule

Nottingham Forest have announced two friendly matches as part of a pre-season trip to Spain ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Steve Cooper’s side will take on Valencia and Levante as part of a seven-day trip as they prepare for the new campaign. Both matches will take place behind closed doors.

The Reds will face Valencia in a training match at the La Liga side's training ground, Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna, on Tuesday, July 18. The game will kick off at 7pm local time.

On Saturday, July 22, they will play Levante at their training ground, Ciudad Deportiva de Buñol. That fixture will kick off at 12pm local time.

Forest have already announced friendlies against Notts County at Meadow Lane (on July 15, 1pm kick-off), PSV Eindhoven at Philips Stadion (on Sunday, July 30, 6.30pm local time kick-off), Stade Rennais behind closed doors at St George’s Park (on Wednesday, August 2, 7pm kick-off) and Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park (on Saturday, August 5, 3.30pm local time kick-off). The club have said they are in discussions to finalise another friendly against Dutch opposition on the Friday before their clash with PSV (July 28).

The top-flight season then begins for the Reds on Saturday, August 12. They open with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal, with a 12.30pm kick-off.

With improving their away form a priority, Cooper’s men face a tough start when the serious action begins. Three of their first four games are away from home.

A meeting with newly-promoted Sheffield United represents their first match Trentside, on Saturday, August 19. But in addition to visiting Arsenal, they have trips to Manchester United (Saturday, August 26) and Chelsea (Saturday, September 2) early on. Not to mention travelling to the Etihad on Saturday, September 23 for a clash with champions Manchester City.
