Brighton & Hove Albion defender Haydon Roberts - who has been linked with Nottingham Forest - could go out on loan before the end of the January transfer window.
Forest were first credited with an interest in the 19-year-old in November, while Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea City and Cardiff City are also said to be keen.
Roberts was on loan at League Two side Rochdale last season but since returning to the south coast, he has struggled to force his way into the first team - being restricted to just four appearances across all competitions.
The likes of Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster, Shane Duffy, Dan Burn and Joel Veltman are all currently ahead of the teenager in Graham Potter's pecking order.
Roberts, whose current contract runs until the summer of 2023, is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Seagulls.
The club regard Roberts as one for the future and boss Potter has revealed he is considering a loan for the youngster.
Speaking to Sussex Live, Potter said: "It is difficult for Haydon, he is competing in a really strong area of the pitch for us. I think he has to be patient, he probably has to keep working, might have to look at a loan situation for him to play some football.
"You have to look at our defensive record - one of the best in the Premier League. So the guys that have done it, have done it well.
"So it is just unfortunate that he is at the start of his career and he has to probably be patient and wait for his opportunity."
A move away from the Amex would mean more game time for Roberts as part of his development.
Potter added: "The (loan) decision wouldn't necessarily be taken on the back of that.
"We want him to enjoy his football, keep progressing."
